Robu, or traditional red fishermen's cabins, at sunrise in Svolvaer, Lofoton Islands, Norway. Many of these have been upgraded as apartments or hotel accommodations. They date back to 1120 when King Oystein decided to build cabins for fishermen who traveled to Lofoton in the winter to fish for cod. The name comes from "ro" which means rowing, which is what the traveling fishermen did, and "bu" which means a small house.
