I think this is a lovely shot of your dog. I like that you caught a catch light in his eye. I think you might make his eyes even brighter so they stand out more. He has beautiful eyes.
Hi Bob, really like the framing and the color here. It's tough to get a clean background sometimes. For a shot like this, a longer focal length is often better, as it will have less depth of field and will throw the background better out of focus, making it less distracting. So, overall, very nicely done, but next time, think about stepping farther back, using a longer lens shot wide open, and try to get that background more pleasingly blurred. Whenever I'm photographing people or animals, I have to force myself to think critically about my background.
