In this course, students will gain insight into pro photographer Ian Plant’s philosophy of photography through a collection of drone images captured in the colorful deserts of Utah—an area he calls the “Prismatic Desert.” Through six carefully selected photographs, Ian explores the creative decisions and field techniques that shaped each image before the shutter was pressed, emphasizing strong composition, the thoughtful use of light and color, and the role of natural conditions in visual storytelling. Rather than relying on heavy or time-consuming editing, he demonstrates how simple, efficient post-processing techniques can subtly enhance an already powerful image and bring it to life.
