The cypress swamps of the Big Cypress Bayou in Texas are places of wild, haunting beauty. Clad in Spanish moss, the trees take on expressive shapes. The bayou comes colorfully alive in autumn, with an explosion of reds, oranges, and yellows. On this photo tour, we'll use a small boat to explore the hidden, intimate, and wild places of the bayou. We can access the secret spots that other tours cannot! The tour presents a unique opportunity to photograph the bayou and make photos that stand out from the rest.

Tour location: The tour is based in Uncertain, Texas (yes, that's really the name of the town).

Physical requirements: We'll be using a small boat to explore the bayou. You just need decent balance to safely get on and off the boat.

General schedule: Please note that each day’s schedule might vary according to which locations we visit that day, how long we shoot, and what the weather conditions are like (if the weather is conducive to photography on a particular day, we might stay in the field longer). Flexibility is key to successful outdoor photography, so expect that plans might change. We'll go out on the boat every day for sunrise and sunset, and if we get overcast conditions, we might go out during the middle of the day as well. We start before sunrise on the first day, and end after sunset on the last day, so you get three full days of photography.

Lodging: Lodging is not included in the tour price. There are plenty of lodging options in Marshall, Texas, which is the town closest to the bayou. You might also be able to find Airbnb accommodations in or near Uncertain, Texas, which is where most tour activities will be based. Feel free to chose lodging that best fits your needs and budget.

Transportation: Participants are responsible for their own transportation to, from, and during the tour, except for boat transportation that is part of the tour.

Payment policy: The tour fee is for instruction only. All other expenses, including transportation, accommodations, and meals are the responsibility of the participant. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required to secure your spot on this tour. The remainder will be collected 60 days prior to the tour start.

If you cancel within 60 days before the start date, a partial or full refund of the tour tuition might be available as long as we are able to fill your spot (minus a non-refundable $500 administration fee). We try to be flexible about emergency cancellations; just contact us and we’ll do our best to work it out!
