How close was this bear to me??? Too close! We just came back from Katmai National Park in Alaska photographing Coastal Brown Bear (grizzles). We saw many bear with cubs in meadows eating wild sedges and along the Cook Inlet digging for clams. We stayed on a commercial boat that had in the past been used for clamming and took a skiff to the shore. Our grandson Sean was with us. We took a float plane to and from the boat, and Sean was up in the cockpit next to the pilot. We also spent a few days in Homer and Anchorage. Beside bear, we saw bald eagle and other birds, otter and Harbor Seal. Sean spotted a group of whales.
