Sunrise, Pepper Beach

in General

Sunrise at Pepper Beach this morning was not colorful due to a lot of dark clouds along the horizon, so I captured a close up of the sky just as the sun rose.

The colors and the sunbeams are lovely. I'm a big fan of providing some context, and so I am wondering why you didn't go a bit wider and include some of the water below the sunrise?

I was originally going to do a wide angle shot of sunrise at the beach but it was not a great sunrise. There were a lot of dark clouds, no great color and no color along the edge of the sand as it was high tide. So I used my telephoto instead to capture the only part of the sky that was colorful and interesting. I didn't feel the water added anything. It was just dark, so I decided to focus on the only park of the sky that attracted me and had some drama.
