I shot this in a studio with an old nylon stocking over my lens to create a Degas Impressionist effect. Would love to have Taya's feedback. I know I should have left more room at the bottom.

I love the softness and almost delicate nature this photo gives off. It translates the serenity of ballet perfectly.
Hi Frances. Thank you very much for posting this photograph and for your patience with my late reply! I'm just familiarising myself with the forum and all the lovely posts here.
I like that you used an old nylon stocking to create a dreamy and hazy effect in this portrait. The model looks very natural and comfortable in front of the camera. Props to you for making her feel comfortable enough to look so natural.
As you pointed out, the photo would look better if there were more space at the bottom. In my opinion, it would look even better if you cropped the top part a little. This would create a "cinematic" effect by narrowing the image horizontally.
The crumpled curtain/fabric on the left-hand side is a little distracting, but it has its own charm. I don't think that studio photos like this need to look perfect to be visually appealing.
I'd love to know more about the story behind this photo.
Very well done!
