Yes, I like seeing more of the reflection, even if it is just the full reflection of the rock. In the original photo, you're cutting off at the image edge the shape formed by the rock and it reflection, and that pulls the eye to the edge, leading out of the composition. In the 2d and 3d versions, the shape is complete, giving the composition more balance.
Great pose. Do you by any chance have a wider crop? I would like to see how this would look if we could see more of the reflection. For a shot like this, I'd be tempted to go vertical and try to include both the bird and its entire reflection. There might have been a good reason for not doing so here, I'm curious what the wider scene looked like.
Thanks--Ian. Here is one that shows the birds reflection in the water, but the water was not very smooth and so the reflection was not clear. But maybe wider is better--I do like the looking back photo as the reflection leads the viewer into the scene.. before crop & a after crop
